CoinMarketCap’s 5 Year Anniversary!
Today we are excited to announce the 5 year anniversary of CoinMarketCap!
Since CoinMarketCap launched in 2013, the cryptocurrency space has grown tremendously as cryptocurrencies have cultivated mainstream interest. In this time, CoinMarketCap has also grown significantly.
When we launched CoinMarketCap, we were tracking seven cryptocurrencies and only a handful of exchanges and markets with a total market capitalization of approximately $1.6 billion USD.
As of May 1st, 2018, we are tracking over 1600 cryptocurrencies and 200 exchanges with a total market capitalization over $400 billion USD!
*The total market capitalization reached an all time high of 835 billion in January of this year.
Our popularity has grown as well. Our Twitter following has grown to 424,000 followers and we are currently the 174th most visited website globally according to Amazon’s Alexa with over 60 million unique visits this year to date.
To celebrate our fifth anniversary, we’re unveiling a new logo and site design, releasing our iOS mobile application, and adding some highly requested features!
New Branding and Design
We are excited to share our new branding with you. The most prominent part of our new brand identity is our logo, which represents the CMC of CoinMarketCap and the ups and downs of the markets.
We’ve given the site a fresh new look featuring colors and fonts designed to capture the essence of CoinMarketCap: simplicity and accuracy.
Mobile Application
The official CoinMarketCap mobile application is now available on the iOS App Store! Download it here to manage your Watchlist and stay up to date with our market capitalization and pricing information on the go.
Watchlist
You can now add cryptocurrencies to your Watchlist for quick and easy future reference. To add a cryptocurrency to your Watchlist, simply navigate to the listing of that cryptocurrency and click the star shaped icon.
You can also add cryptocurrencies from the Watchlist page itself or from the “…” menu.
The Watchlist uses cookies to store your preferences on the device in use. In the future, we’ll be adding ways to sync your Watchlist between different devices. To view your Watchlist, simply select it from the main menu.
Upgraded API
We’ve added a new version of the public API that fixes some minor issues with V1.

The Future
We pay close attention to the needs of our users and always encourage people to leave us feedback. We are hard at work to bring you more features that will give you more control over your experience while exploring our data.
