Welcome to the 36th Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. A weekly report focusing on the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.
Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.
Smartcoin valuation has nearly DOUBLED this week going from $3,087,553.11 to $6,038,027.12. The main increase occurred in the BitCNY asset which seen a 135% increase in supply this week. increasing supply in crypto is generally a bad thing but it is quite the opposite in Bitshares as each USD or smartcoins is backed by at least $1.75 USD of Bitshares. This decreases the liquid supply of Bitshares and adoption of smartcoins forces the per share price of Bitshares higher which provides great leverage for the reserve pool and worker proposals creating a positive feedback loop
The HERO smartcoin has started trading and i have started tracking its progress in these reports. Currently it only has $5,000 USD supply but has only just achieved the need prices feeds to become active this week. Congrats to Stan and the team. This asset is an exciting asset that could bring great value to mainstream society. Stan has also mentioned a giveaway of a HEROassist token at the upcoming CRS show in Hollyworld allow attendees to redeem their token for 1 hour of consulting time with a Bitshares Hero who can assist them to create their very own asset to start their new venture.
Dan Larimer has done an introduction of EOS at consensus NYC. There is a lot of buzz around the new platform and they even had billboard advertising in Time Square. You can watch Dan's talk thank to @roelandp HERE
This week @stan will be talking at CRS in Hollywood for the 'Startup Hollywood' event. This promises to be a speculator event with some big name Hollywood star that already seem to be supporting the Bitshares ideals. Stan has mentioned he also has some exciting dinner dates lined up so keep an eye on his blog for more information about what transpires this weekend. Be sure to follow @stan on steemit
@officialfuzzy has released Whaleshares in a Beta phase. Whaleshares will allow Steem whales to attribute their voting power to tokens on the Bitshares network. These tokens can then be distributed to users of Steem (Who will require a Bitshares account ;). Once in possession of these tokens users will be able to use these tokens to upvote/downvote Steem and Golos posts via sending the tokens to the whale. Tools such as whaleshares.net will help users in this process. Whaleshares a being distributed at the moment to speaker in the Beyond Bitcoin Show; In future i am sure their will be other mean to get your hands on these tokens but as mentioned the platform is still in testing at the moment. I personally think this is a great project and will have huge benefits for Bitshares, Steem and Golos.
@estefantt has published the makeup of the Cryptocurrency index fund 'Bit20'. Every month on the 20th day an algorithm generates a composition for the index fund based on the top 20 cryptocurrencies and some index rules. This asset provides a diversified portfolio for investors that are bullish on cryptocurrencies in general without need to pick the latest flavour of the month. you can find out more and see the latest composition HERE

Yoyow has launched a crowd-sale this week; tokens were distributed to a number of sources and sold out in a very short time frame. Yoyow (You Own Your Own Words) is a User generated content platform initially focusing on the Chinese market and should have positive results for the Bitshares eco system. The team from Yoyow is made up from a number Chinese Bitshares core members and superstars of the community. @peerplays have completed their crowdfund this week reaching tier 3. They did not completely raise their goal and as such as per their initial bulletin any unsold PPY will be burned/unminted. Witness operations are underway with people registering their interest by joining the @peerplayswitness channel in telegram.
@peerplays this week will be publishing their suggested genesis block allowing all contributors to take an early look at the distributions from the various channels, they will also publish their suggested settings for the network. They will also be releasing further code to their github account in the coming weeks.
cryptonomex has entered the top 100 this week with a fresh batch of BTS sourced from blocktrades.
11632 new account registered this week! average week is roughly 2-3000 accounts so this is roughly 4x higher than a standard week.
