Bobby Lee's BTCC Twitter Poll: Who Is Really The Strongest Coin On The Block?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

We Gotta Talk About This Twitter Vote.

I would like to say I am very proud of the people who went and voted for the Bobby Lee BTCC poll on Twitter. I do feel the Steemit community can pull together and win the final round if we get our shit together. I know there are still two days to go and anything can still happen, however, our lead over Ethereum looks pretty sweet with a 12% lead at the time of this post.

Now it's time to stop blowing smoke up your asses and dig into some numbers/observations that do not look so pretty.

The Two Communities Who Look To Be In It To Win It

It looks as if two communities may be vying for the Twitter Poll Win; Steemit and Ethereum Classic. I must warn you the Ethereum Classic users are a tight knit COMMUNITY. You need to remember after the Ethereum DAO debacle a minority group of users refused to participate in the Ethereum fork. The community of Ethereum Classic supporters even issued their own manifesto about their refusal to participate in the Ethereum Fork. I want you to think about this. A group of loyalists joined forces and managed to keep the original Ethereum Blockchain operating with minimal overall support. That's what I call C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y.

Ok, so why the f**k are you bringing this up @lexikon082? What does this have to do with the vote?

We see how strong the Ethereum Classic Community has been in the past! Are we going to show them WE at Steemit are way more loyal to OUR COMMUNITY? Will we show the ETC Community that WE are the strongest community on the block?

The Numbers

  • Tweets

This is where it gets really interesting. Look at the retweets of the Ethereum Classic Group vs. the Steemit Group. The Ethereum Classic Group has 1.4 thousand retweets, our group has 162! Their group has an over 760% increase vs. ours. The retweets are building momentum for their camp when the final vote happens. People on Twitter, where the vote is being held, are being exposed to Ethereum Classic on a way larger scale than our group. When the final vote happens the casual twitter user will remember the Ethereum Classic Group before they will the Steemit Group!

  • Likes
What do likes have to do with anything you may wonder? A lot actually! According to the NewStatesman, likes are an "indicator of social standing" among people. Likes can even "increase self-esteem". If these statements hold true would you rather vote for someone in the group who has 115 likes or 468 likes? The Ethereum Classic Group has an over 300% increase compared to the Steemit Group. Our group is not helping with Twitter user's self-esteem and this will lead to lower engagement voting for Steemit in the final poll!

  • But Lex we have 43% and ETC has 37%
Why yes; yes you are correct. But look at the vote count. Our group has a combined 6,128 vote count. Their group has a combined 8,069 vote count. What are the total votes for ETC compared to Steemit? Multiply our percentage of votes vs total vote count(.43 X 6,128 votes) and we have a total of 2,635.04 votes. Ethereum Classic has a total of 2,985.5 votes(.37 x 8069). Who's community is supporting their coin more with actual votes?

Now think about this. According to Steemd.com we have a total of 162,283 accounts on Steemit. In the last 7 days we had 15,236 ACTIVE accounts and the last 24 hours we had 6,838 ACTIVE accounts. Let's use the 24-hour number for this last calculation; as the most recent poll started on May 15th(yesterday). This indicates out of the users in the last 24 hours who were active, only 38% of Steemit Users (if all the votes for Steemit in the poll were users, which is highly unlikely) voted in the poll. This means at the very least 62% of the community is not actively participating in the vote.

SO I ASK AGAIN: Is the Ethereum Classic Community stronger than ours or is the Steemit Community the strongest on the Block?

Thanks a bunch. This community will pull together. It's just numbers I noticed. It will be so awesome when we win.

Oh, you threw math at me this late at night?! LOL
Well, I voted, shared, retweeted and left a pretty decent comment on that twitter vote. I'll retweet again. Thanks for the reminder. :)

You are very welcome. Yes, imagine doing the math this late at night after an audit! Where is the head hurt emoji....wait a minute... 17761645-ouch-emoticon.jpg
