Why this petition matters

Started by esperanza amor

Belarusian people are begging Elon Musk to run public beta testing of the Starlink satellite internet project in their country - Belarus!

Alexander Lukashenko - a.k.a the last dictator of Europe - gave orders to block the Internet access, and the country has been totally disconnected from the rest of the world for the third day now! He did it on purpose so that peaceful protesters couldn’t coordinate with each other and the truth of police suppressions wouldn’t come out to the world news. Moreover, Belarusian expats can’t contact their loved ones in the country, which makes it painful not knowing what’s happening with them. The government lies to its own people claiming that the Internet is blocked because of "DDos cyberattacks from outside the country".

Please help us end this injustice and get back our right to freedom of opinion and expression via the internet!

Current situation in Belarus:

Police brutality is unseen! Thousands of peaceful protestors are being arrested, there’s already no place in prisons so they throw people handcuffed on the concrete floor. Journalists are being shot, some are even missing. Police grab random people on the streets, beat them up and then leave them lying on the ground. Firing rubber bullets, tearing gas and throwing grenades to disperse peaceful demonstrators is a norm, causing bad injuries to hundreds of people. First aid is unable to come on time. There’re already death casualties which authority claims to be “their fault”.

The opposition candidate, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who won the elections by considerable amount of votes according to exit polls, was detained, threatened by the authorities and left with no choice but escape the country to Lithuania.
