Blockchain is disrupting the normal day to day operations for every organization and country. Blockchain was a priority topic at Davos; a World Economic Forum survey suggested that 10 percent of global GDP will be stored on blockchain by 2027.

Disruption is also incredibly relevant and important, to governments. Estonia conducts major Government operations on Blockchain. The real question is "What is disrupting, what is changing and who should pay attention and why?"

In July 2019, National e-Governance Division (NeGD), vide their DO No. N-22022/11/2019-NeGD-MeitY dated 22nd July 2019, took the initiative and had entrusted the task of preparing the “Draft National Strategy on Blockchain” to National Institute for Smart Government (NISG).

The team at NISG, under the guidance of  Prof. Shivendu S. (Professor of Information Systems at MUMA School of Business – University of South Florida) as Academic Lead , drafted the National Strategy on Blockchain. The team had consulted multiple stakeholders.

​

Along with NeGD, NISG will be conducting stakeholders meet (conferences/workshops) at select cities in India, to drive deeper discussion and draft a path to value creation through Blockchain for the Indian economy. These stakeholder conferences will help define the eco-system for this emerging technology in India.

After due consideration to the critical comments and discussions at stakeholder conferences, the next version of the National Strategy on Blockchain shall be published and submitted to NeGD.
