New website will sell your favourite brands but for a THIRD cheaper than supermarkets

Goods like Ben&Jerry's, Persil, Dove and more could be sold at a knock-down price on a new digital shopping platform

How do you fancy buying your groceries not from a supermarket but directly from the manufacturer instead?

Well a new service aims to make that a reality - and claims to slash your shopping bill by up to 30 per cent too.

The new scheme has been unveiled by tech firm INS, which plans to launch a trial of the service in the UK in either 2019 or 2020.

Major suppliers Unilever and Mars have already signed-up - meaning thousands of famous household brands could be available.

Customers will be able to select products through the platform and buy them straight from the manufacturer.

And crucially they'll be charged the wholesale price for the goods - not the retail price - making it much cheaper in theory to do their shop.

Customers will also be charged a fee to cover the cost of storage and delivery.

As the website might not launch in the UK for another two years, we're unsure just how much cheaper the service will be.

Founder Dmitry Zhulin told the Sun Online that customers could slash their grocery bills by a third.

He said: "We give consumers direct access to grocery manufacturers, with competitive pricing and convenient home delivery.

"INS will enable consumers to save up to 30 per cent on everyday shopping buying directly from grocery manufacturers.

"Bypassing retailers and wholesalers means a more personalised and transparent grocery shopping experience at significantly lower prices."

The brains behind INS are also behind Instamart, the largest online grocery delivery operator in Russia.

A report from Waitrose found that customers are increasingly not bothering with a 'big shop' in favour of daily, smaller shops instead.

And instead of hitting the high street, 10pm is the peak time for shoppers as they go online to splash their cash.
